KFC Fakeaway 🍗
This recipe will give you tasty, crispy, juicy chicken, without needing to fry anything! It’s so easy, you’ll love it! LETS GO!
Ingredients
CHICKEN
1KG chicken (mix of breast, thigh & drumsticks)
75g plain flour
1 tsp garlic salt
Big tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp dried thyme
Salt & pepper
Doritos (optional)
Oil
MARINADE
250ml low-fat buttermilk
1 tbsp light soy sauce
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp dried thyme
1/2 tsp dried sage
1/2 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp pepper
GRAVY
4 tbsp flora light
4 tbsp plain flour
500ml boiling water
1 beef stock cube
1 chicken stock cube
3 tbsp plain flour
1/4 tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper
Method
Trim any fat and rank bits from the chicken. To make the popcorn chicken, just chop breasts into small bite-size bits.
-
Place the chicken into a bowl. And add all the marinade ingredients! (I told you this would be easy!) mix and combine everything together. Let it sit overnight, or a minimum of 4 hours.
-
Now the fun bit! Stick the oven up to 240 Celsius. Get a large baking tray ready, and line it with greaseproof.
-
Add your flour to a bowl, with all the seasoning. Dip your marinaded chicken into the seasoned flour. Place SKIN SIDE DOWN on the greaseproof paper. Repeat with all the chicken.
-
OPTIONAL STEP - crush Doritos up as fine as you can, and coat the chicken with Doritos.
-
Spray with oil, and put it in the oven. BE SURE TO SLIDE IT INTO THE TOP SHELF. Cook it for 25-30 minutes. I’d recommend getting a thermometer for chicken (it always scares me that I’ll undercook it!) DONE!
GRAVY
Melt the butter in a pan. Once melted, add your flour. Whisk it together until it’s a paste (looks like scrambled egg almost)
Mix your stock cubes with the water. Slowly pour into your paste. Keep whisking it. Once the stock is added, season with salt, pepper, and garlic salt.
Run it through a sieve, and then you get your tasty, thick gravy. Perfect for that, finger lickin’ chicken. Serves 4 people at 385 calories per person! I KNOW!!
